Effective Email Marketing

effective email marketing, mass marketing tips, email tips

Presenting yourself and your organization in a way that gets someone’s attention through email can be a very difficult and time consuming process. Often, you don’t even know if anyone is reading your email. So, how can you make email marketing work for you? The following 3 tips can help you make an impact and stand out from all those other emails:

  1. Ask questions – by asking questions your audience can relate to, it makes the email recipient feel a connection, like the email is directed toward them, not just a mass message to everyone (e.g., if you are selling flowers, ask “What’s your favorite flower?”);
  2. Keep it short – people check their email on their phone, at the office, while commuting, while they’re bored, when they’re not really interested in reading a full page of information. By keeping it short, you have a better chance of the email recipient actually reading the whole email. Bullet points are your friend!;
  3. Specific rewards for actions – if people know exactly what they will get from doing what you ask of them, they will be more inclined to act. If there is no call to action, there is no sense of urgency to act and most people need to feel that push in order to actually act. If there is no reward for following that call to action, there is no benefit for the email recipient.
