On Monday, July 14, 2014, the San Diego City Council voted 6-3 to increase the minimum wage in San Diego to $9.75 an hour in 2015 , $10.50 an hour in 2016, and $11.50 an hour by 2017. Additionally, the vote included a potential for San Diegans to earn 5 sick days. Although this is less than the original proposal for an increase to $13.09 an hour, this is sure to cause celebration among some San Diegans. At the same time, others will likely oppose the increase all together.
